We all have a favorite season, the one that stands out among the others. It’s safe to say that mine is fall, you can check out my many Halloween posts for proof. But honestly, I love every season for different reasons. Spring is exciting for the gardening season; I am trying succession planting this year! I also enjoy spring for the decor. Every year, I do a little spring cleaning of my home decor and add a few things that make it feel like spring.
What I love about spring decorating, is the opportunities to bring the feeling of the season inside. Using bright colors and earth tones, scents, and natural accents are my go-to’s and they are really easy to add to existing decor. The best part, it’s pretty inexpensive to decorate for spring.
As the flowers begin to pop up and flowering branches start to show you can simply clip some off and put them in a vase to add a beautiful spring display. Also, take a look at what you already have in your home. What can you repurpose? Can you use something in a different way to add decor? It’s always fun to get creative when it comes to home decor.
Another thing I really enjoy doing for spring is updating the art in my home. I knew I wanted to add something rustic but that still had spring vibes. When I found these prints from USDA National Agricultural Library and I was in love! They have an entire library of prints that are all free.

Plants & Natural Elements
This is the easiest and most inexpensive way to spruce up your home for spring. In order to save some money, go outside and see what you can find. Branches are beautiful and simple-looking cut and placed in a vase. Bring a few potted plants into your home which you can find at home improvement stores or your local nursery.
Flowers are probably the easiest way to make your home feel like spring and you can find them at your local grocery store or farmers market, but I prefer forcing bulbs indoors instead. Forcing bulbs inside can be really fun and the end result is beautiful flowers that you can choose to keep inside or plant outside to come back next year. In addition to that, I think it brings a more rustic, earthy feeling to your home decor.
Simple and Inexpensive art
One of my favorite things to do each season is to update my art. I have many framed photos and pictures around my home and it makes it very easy to swap out the existing picture for new art that matches the season. There are several sites where you can search for art and print it off your computer and frame it. It’s so easy and most of the time you can find great prints for free!
This year I used these watercolor prints from the USDA National Agricultural Library. They are beautiful watercolor prints that are totally free! The library of prints is huge and they have such a wonderful rustic vibe to them, some of them even have faint pencil notes on the sides which I absolutely love!
Scented candles
This one may be given for spring decorating, but I couldn’t leave it out! Scented candles are a great way to not only add an easy piece of decor but can add a wonderful spring scent. Something I usually make sure to do when I buy a candle is to buy a candle that is in a container. Pillar candles are great, but I love to buy a container candle so that I can reuse the container when the candle burns down.
For spring, I look for container candles that have natural tones and colors. When the candle burns down, I will use it for a tea light candle holder or a small potted plant or trinket bowl. Reusing not only saves you money, but it also cuts down on waste.
Light and bright throw pillows
Changing up your throw pillows is one of the easiest things you can do to update your decor. Usually, through the winter I have darker pillows, and come springtime, I will swap them out for something lighter and brighter like white pillows or pastel linen. One of my favorite pillows to add for spring are in my guest room. They are the sweetest white lumbar pillows from Busa Designs. Also, try something fun like striped pillows or a gold accent pillow.
Small Additions that add Depth and Texture
It’s really easy to add small accents that will provide depth and texture to your decor. My favorite way to do this is to visit a vintage or thrift store. It’s so fun to scour the shelves of a vintage store looking for small accents like brass candle holders, vintage picture frames, wire baskets, ceramic vases or pitchers, clay bowls, or wood trays.
These are all easy things you can dress up or leave standing alone and they will add a little texture to your decor without breaking the bank.
