Today we are talking snowman poo, yes you read that correctly. Also known as Muddy Buddies or Puppy Chow, I call it snowman poo because it is festive and fun!
The original recipe is my go-to to give to family and friends for years, and they love it. I have made the original recipe so many times that this year I decided to play around with some other Christmasy flavors.
A few hours and many batches later my kitchen looked like a powdered sugar disaster, but I had four new flavors of Snowman Poo to show for it.
The original recipe is so easy to add things in and take things out that by the time I was done, I thought of a few others flavors, but those will have to wait until next year.
Follow the original Chex recipe and add/remove the below ingredients to create these fun flavors.
Milk Chocolate Peppermint
- Replace vanilla extract with peppermint extract and cut the amount in half to 1/2 teaspoon
- Add 1/2 cup crushed peppermint to powdered sugar
White Chocolate Peppermint
- Replace semi-sweet chocolate chips with white chocolate chips
- Replace vanilla extract with peppermint and cut the amount in half to 1/2 teaspoon
- No butter
- No peanut butter
- Add 1/2 cup crushed peppermint to powdered sugar
- Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler, not the microwave. White chocolate is very touchy and can seize up if melted in the microwave.
Gingerbread
- Add 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, and 1/4 teaspoon cloves to powdered sugar
Hot Cocoa
- Add 1/2 cup cocoa powder to powdered sugar
