Wine has never been my thing. I’ve tried it, wasn’t a fan but lately, things have been changing. It may be safe to say that I am growing up. I’ve been starting to dabble in some white wines and I gotta say, I’m loving it! With my peaked interest in wine, I have also noticed a trend of wine cocktail – the wine slush. Fresh fruits combined with wine and ice – sign me up!
Since summer seems to finally be here, I had to try. The great thing about these lovely slush drinks is that you can choose pretty much any fruit to mix it with. All you need is white wine, ice, and frozen fruit. I chose peach for a sweet and tart flavor that pairs so well with a fruity white wine.
The fruit sweetens the drink naturally and these are so easy to make. I know that I say this with most of my recipes, but this one is no joke. You can be enjoying these with your friends in a few minutes’ flat.
If you choose to freeze your own fresh peaches; which I highly recommend, fresh fruit has a sweeter flavor, it may take a little bit longer, but is so with it. In a pinch, a bag of frozen peaches works. If you would like to remove the peel, blanch and peel the peaches before freezing. I prefer the peel on because it creates gorgeous coloring. Those little specs of red are the peel and I think it looks so pretty.
Another quick tip, if your blender is glass, put it in the freezer for a bit before blending. You will get a little extra slush this way.
Get ready for your new favorite summer drink, I can’t get enough!
