With the New Year comes the conversations or New Year’s resolutions. Instead of making a resolution, make a vision board! Vision boards are a fun way to put your goals and dreams together. Hang it somewhere in your home to be reminded every day of your goals.

The New Year is here cue the conversations about New Year’s resolutions. Although, I enjoy the feeling of a fresh start that the New Year brings, I have never been one to get into New Year’s resolutions because I believe change can and should happen all year round.
It just takes openness and awareness to decide that you want to do something better or push yourself out of your comfort zone, but it takes time, and effort and it is a process, not a resolution.
Of course, we all know that saying it and doing it are two very different things. Life happens, distractions come and at the end of most days, it is quite easy (speaking from experience here) to get off track and forget about your new intentions altogether!
I don’t know about you but I need constant reminders to keep me on track, so I make vision boards! Vision boards are a great way to keep your passions, ideas, thoughts, and anything you want to be reminded of right there in plain sight.
There are plenty of ways to create a vision board and plenty of articles that tell you exactly how to do it. I say when it comes to making your board there are no rules! Your board should represent you entirely, put on whatever inspires you, catches your eye, means something to you, or reminds you of a goal or a period of time that you are looking forward to.
Not all need to be things you intend on achieving in the next year, some might be things you want to achieve in your life or things you know you need to get better at, like me and drinking water – hence the glass of water on my vision board.
So go nuts! Look through magazines, pins on Pinterest (you can follow me here – for some extra inspiration), old cards or pictures. Have fun creating your board and put whatever you want on it. You will be surprised what you see when you step back and look at your finished project. Once you are done, put your board up somewhere you will see it every day.
My board started with one of my favorite quotes from Diane Von Furstenberg placed right in the middle. It reminds me that I may not know my exact plan, but as long as I stick to the kind of woman I want to be I am set. Scattered around this are things like a page I found in a magazine that says “What are you afraid of?” and right below “and so the adventure begins” this reminds me that fear can be crippling and most of the time it is holding us back from our adventures.
There are pictures of food prepping and fresh foods which remind me to take of my body. Pictures that represent my long term goals like my future pet family and my dream garden and kitchen. In the upper right corner is Lucy staring at a sewing machine the same way I do when I sit down in front of my machine; it may be taking me a long time to learn how to sew, but I will keep at it!
Scattered among the rest are empowering words, pictures of strong women, and a birthday card from my husband.
My finished project is exactly what I wanted and every time I look at it, it makes me smile. I think that is the idea of making a vision board. Create something that when you look at it, it makes you happy and excited to reach your goals.

This would be a really cool and fun project to do at a ‘woman’s empowerment’ party. Or just a party with friends.
