A guest basket shows your guest that you are happy they are there. Welcome them with a basket full of amenities, relaxing products and magazines to enjoy.

A few weeks back I posted about my guest room redo. It was the first room I redecorated since moving into our homestead. It soon became my favorite room in the house, mostly because it is the only room I have decorated, but still! It’s such a cute room!
This is the first time I have had a real, finished guest room. I was so excited to host friends and family and actually have a real place for them to sleep. Is this adulting? I think so!
When redoing the guest room there was one thing I really wanted to add. A guest basket! I got this idea from a family member, we went to visit them for the Fourth of July and I was so excited to see a basket full of goodies after setting my suitcase down.
So many of the things in the basket were items that I either forgot or were way nicer than what I brought. It was such a nice welcome and I fell in love with the idea.
Think back to your last trip; was it to visit family or to a nice hotel? Either way, you were probably a little tired when you arrived. At a nice hotel, all the amenities and welcoming items are waiting for you when you arrive and should be since well, you paid for it! Create the feeling of a nice hotel for your guests when they come to visit, they deserve it after all that traveling!
Choose a Basket
Start by choosing a basket. Think about how much you want to put in the basket. Will it be a small basket with just a couple of amenities? Or will it be a big basket with towels, magazines and everyday items? This will give you an idea of how big your basket should be. The basket should appear full, but not overstuffed.
Next is the style of basket. Look at your guest room decor and decide what type of basket would look best. I wanted a minimalist and rustic style so I went with a wire basket to go with the rest of the room. There are so many different styles to choose from, wicker, cloth, plastic, you name it!
Fill the Basket
What goes in the basket can sometimes depend on who is visiting. My first basket was full of men’s care because my husband’s friend was visiting. After he left, I restocked the basket with women’s care because my next guests will be a gal pal.
The perfect basket has a mixture of everyday amenities and relaxing items that your guests can enjoy while they wind down. Magazines to read, a face mask to relax, etc. Also, putting amenities in the basket that your guest could forget or need more of is so helpful.
The travel section of Target is always my go-to for filling my guest room basket. You can find great amenities for a great price. Your local drugstore is also a great place to shop.
My guest room basket includes:
- Coconut Milk shampoo & conditioner
- Vaseline lotion
- Dove deodorant
- Toothbrush
- Hello toothpaste
- Mouth Wash
- Que Bella face mask
- Magazine
- Two hand towels
- One bath towel
The fun thing about putting together a guest basket is that there are so many options to add. Here are a couple of honorable mentions.
Your guests will be so grateful for your basket. I can’t help but to be extra excited when guests are coming because I hope they feel welcomed and love the basket. It’s a nice surprise that they will not forget.
