Mimosas are my thing. I love them. Favorite drink by far no question about it. In my years of hosting parties, I have put together plenty of mimosa bars and it is never an easy task. All the things to remember, juice options, sparkling wine options and not to mention the decor. It is a task, but the task is worth it in the end.
For Mother’s Day, I hosted a brunch. It was a lovely time with all the mother’s in my life. I put together a yummy spread and hung pictures of all the moms and of course had a mimosa bar. I had a vision in my mind of an orange tree hanging over the mimosa bar so, from that, I took the classic mimosa ingredient and turned it into a theme. The vision came to life and it turned out exactly how I envisioned it.
This mimosa bar is full of DIY projects and easy setup. If you want all the DIY projects to make your own orange tree mimosa bar, click the link to download my e-book to get all the DIY projects and some mimosa recipes.
Although my vision came to life and it was amazing, it was still a lot of work. Well worth it, don’t get me wrong, but a lot of work. Every aspect of party planning is a lot of work, but we do it because the end result is so great. Planning is your best friend when it comes to putting together mimosa bar and I’ve got all the deets for you to make the experience less stressful, in turn, more enjoyable for you.
First, things first. Write down that vision you have in your head. Hop on Pinterest to get a little inspiration and write down everything about the mimosa bar look that you want. Write down keywords, things like spring, flowers, rustic, chalkboard, golds, pastels, chic; just so that you have a clear idea of what you want – and so you don’t forget anything, which is the real reason I write everything down. Does anyone else feel like their memory sucks…or is that just me?
Anyways, once you have a clear theme. Start planning for your set up. This can depend on a few things, how much time and money you want to spend. Here are some necessary supplies and some that are a nice addition but not needed.
Must have supplies:
- Space
- Glassware
- Garnish Bowls
- Pitchers
- Ice Bucket
- Signage
Additional supplies:
- Stir Sticks
- Napkins
- Serving tools
- Straws
- Serving trays
Once you have narrowed down the supplies you will need, it’s time for the fun part, decor! Think back to your theme, what ideas did you write down, what are the things you need to make and buy? Decide on what colors will work with your theme and what supplies you will need for decor. Here are five easy mimosa bar themes to get you started.
- Rustic – chalkboard signs, wood accents, mason jars, green garlands and sweet flowers
- Spring Garden – great for an outdoor brunch. Lace, pastel colors, vintage white, and flowers. Terracotta pots for an ice bucket or garnish bowls
- Chic – bold pinks, gold, white with chevron or stripes. Clean lines and bold signage like large glitter lettering or framed printable.
- Whimsical – soft accents, flowing tablecloth, small candles or mini lights. Small roses and greens in vintage vases.
- Bubbles – Fun decor with balloons to look like bubbles, bubbles lights and circle napkins
The orange tree theme is another great option. The statement paper garland is a fun DIY project that will impress guests. The theme comes together with the orange tree stir sticks and wood rounds.
