The Bloody Maria. This twist on the classic Bloody Mary is spicy and delicious. All the classic flavors mixed with lime juice and a punch of tequila brings this classic to a whole new level.

I am going to be completely honest with you, I have never been a huge Bloody Mary fan. I never understood why everyone liked them, it’s tomato juice. The flavors are all a little too much for me, especially in the morning.
But…lately, I have been starting to come around. Brunch is kind of my thing, I would eat brunch over any other meal any day. Growing up my mom would make delicious brunches and I have a serious love of mimosas. Seriously! Check out my free eBook How to Make the Perfect Mimosa Bar. Since I have such a strong love for brunch it only seemed right that I gave the Bloody Mary another chance.
My husband is a big Bloody Mary fan and has always tried to convince me of their deliciousness. Any time we are brunchin’ it up, he tries to steer me towards the tomato drink but ultimately I would go with the mimosa. Then one day he suggested a Bloody Maria.
A Bloody Maria is just like a Bloody Mary, but Maria uses tequila instead of vodka. Can I be honest with you again? I have never really been a fan of tequila either. My first thought was ‘no way!’ but since I am trying to be open to trying new drinks and dishes I gave it a try.
Guys, for some reason, this twist on the classic Bloody Mary hit all the right flavors. Maybe I am growing up, maybe my taste pallet is changing. I don’t know what it is, but I am not mad about it.
Another reason why I am falling in love with this drink, it is perfect for Halloween! I mean, bloody is right in the name. The green olives are a great garnish if you are trying to make it spooky. They look like eyes, don’t they!? And lastly, the rim salt adds to the look of this cocktail but more importantly the flavor. It is a mixture of celery salt, salt, pepper, and paprika. It adds just the right amount of spicy and the flavor is smoky and savory.
We all know that going out for brunch is a delight, something you should be treating yourself too often, in my opinion. With that being said, it’s nice to enjoy brunch at home so you can make it your own. Or just do it like I would and throw a brunch party!
This drink has so many different flavors sometimes it is hard to find a place that does it right, to your standards. The great thing about making this homemade is that you can make it as spicy or mild as you would like. So mix those flavors and garnish your heart out!
