After all the glitz and sparkle from the holidays, I crave a sleek and simple home decor. Even though I am sad to see the holidays go, it is nice to get back the basics.

Decorating after the holidays is always a little hard for me. The last three months have been full of exciting decor. October is spooky and fun, then comes November with its beautiful colors and gold accents and then, of course, December which is full of sparkle and brightness.
Once the holidays are over a part of me is sad to see it go, but another part craves the simplicity. It usually takes at least a week for me to get all the holiday decor packed away and new gifts in their places. This past weekend I finally had time to put away the holiday boxes and the time to redecorate.
This time of year I aim for a simple and clean look. Something that will easily transition through the next couple of months and into spring. I went out to buy a few new pieces to add to my after the holidays’ decor. This terrarium immediately caught my eye. The brass is gorgeous and I love having as much nature in my home as possible. It is nice to add more green after having a Christmas tree for the full month before this.
Books or magazines are easy decor options and great conversation starters. On my coffee table lay of my favorite books for perusing. Lauren Conrad’s Style and I recently picked up Homebody by Joanna Gaines and had a hard time putting it down, it is so good! I took a lot of inspiration from it for my decor.
Little trinkets and lots of candles are scattered about. This tall scented candle brings such a cozy vibe to the room and the musky scent adds even more. The natural vibes come through everywhere and if you know me at all, you are not surprised. Eucalyptus is a really easy choice if you want to add greenery to your space. It is pretty, inexpensive and smells ah-mazing.
It feels so nice to have space and a clean living space after the busyness of the holidays. My next decor goal is a new sofa and side chair so stay tuned for more decor inspiration.
What is your home decor like after the holidays? Tell me in the comments!

Such a lovley and clean room. I must admit, it felt good getting the holiday decor down. My house felt so much bigger and less cluttered.

Thanks, Lacy! I couldn’t wait to get my holiday decor down this year! My house feels so much bigger, I always forget how much room the tree takes.

My daughter always gets bummed when we take down Christmas decor so we incorporated winter decor to ease the transition ;). I also really enjoyed Home Body. She is so inspirational!

That’s a good idea. Most years I am so sad taking the Christmas decor down. I love Home Body, such a great book.
