A good party bar is something that can bring life to a celebration. It can be the focal point of the room, the thing that guests are drawn too and a conversation starter. A whiskey bar is easy to put together, fun to create and always a crowd pleaser.

Happy end of summer lovelies, I can’t believe that summer is coming to an end and the talk of pumpkin spice lattes is everywhere. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited, fall is my favorite, but summer has been so good this year, it’s hard to say goodbye. My summer has been full of celebrations. I may love fall, but my favorite party season is definitely summer. There is so much more you can do when the weather is warm.
At this point of the season, the sun is setting earlier and the temp is dipping just a little. It’s end of summer party time! This is the time of year that is still summer in the sun and fall in the shade. That perfect warmth that has a slight crispness in the air. The seasons are changing and I say that is something to celebrate.
Finally, I have an excuse to put together a whiskey bar. As you know, I love a good party bar. Just check out my post on how to put together the perfect mimosa bar. I also, love. whiskey. I haven’t always loved whiskey but now that I do, I will never love another. Celebrating the end of summer going into fall with a whiskey bar felt right. Being that party bars are kinda my thing, I have put together a few. Most of the time, they can be a lot of work. The end result is always worth it and guests are always pleased, but a lot of work. The whiskey bar was so simple to put together yet the look was impactful.
The decor was simple; I posted about a DIY Embroidery Hoop Wreath last week that I used as the main decor on my bar. The rest was simple touches that go along with a rustic, slightly country theme with earthy colors. I used a desk with a dark wood stained top, wood rounds, a silver vase with warm flowers and a chalkboard sign with instructions for some signature drinks. Quick Tip, chisel tip chalkboard pens are the best, click here for my favorite brand.
Having a few different types of whiskey means your guests can mix things up. From Scotch, Irish, Tennesse, Single Malt and Blend to Bourbon and Rye, they all have different flavors and undertones. My favorites are Irish, and bourbon.
To really taste all the whiskey’s flavors it is best room temperature and served neat. Let’s face it, we don’t all need to feel like manly men. So a whiskey cocktail is nice and there are endless options out there. Having a couple signature drinks, with a recipe for your guest to see takes the pressure off them. If they want to try something new, its right there or they get to enjoy a favorite. My bar included a Whiskey Honey Lemonade that was to die for. The honey stick as a garnish was perfect and really brought a nice flavor.
The second drink is a crowd pleaser, the easy but delicious option, the classic Old Fashioned. It only takes a few ingredients; bitters, sugar and orange peel.
Side note, The Bitter Housewife has great bitters in lots really nice flavors.
I wrapped my whiskey bar up with a little pub mix that my guests to enjoy between drinks. It was so easy to put this bar together, it makes me want to make it again! Does anyone want to celebrate the beginning of fall? I’ll get the whiskey ready.
