Okay, you guys. The holidays are over! Am I the only one that is kinda excited about that!? The holiday season is my absolute favorite and every year when we get home from Christmas gatherings I can’t help but be a little sad that it is over. This year, that moment lasted all but a couple of minutes. The holidays take a lot out of you! This year I found myself craving the routine again and time to RE-lax!
You may be reading that last line and thinking, Ha! Time to relax, what does that even look like? It is so easy to get swept up in the busy, especially during the holiday season. The parties, the shopping, the entertaining, the food! You have been concentrating on everyone else for the last two months. Now that January is here, let’s focus on ourselves for a moment.
I don’t know about you but I can be my own worst enemy when it comes to finding time to relax. My mind is filled with all the things I need to get done and that feeling that I don’t have enough time to do them. What is the point of relaxing when I am just thinking of all the things I could be doing? FInding time to disconnect and truly relax is so important. Without it, we get burnt out and that is usually when an adult meltdown happens. Anyone else guilty of this? My husband could tell you stories. Anyways, it is easy to find reasons why you shouldn’t slow down for a bit, but the reason you should is way more important.
These DIY bath salts are my solution. Easy DIY bath salts that will you relax and unwind. They take maybe five minutes to make and added to the bath will help relax muscles and promote inflammation. All you need is Epsom salts, herbal tea bags (or loose tea) and essentials oils. That’s it! Mix them together and you have a wonderful bath salt.
Not only will these help you to unwind but Epsom salts are very good for relaxing sore muscles and loosen stiff joints. Choosing which herbal tea you will use is another way to add extra benefits. I used lemon ginger; ginger is very good for detoxifying and anti-inflammation and chamomile tea which is very relaxing and is naturally full of antioxidants (always a good thing!). Add a few splashes of essential oil like lemon; great for the immune system and energy or lavender; great for anxiety and is believed to have antiseptic properties.
Okay, so turn off your phone, draw yourself a bath, toss in some of these bath salts and take a moment to relax. You deserve it! If you want to add a little more to your spa day, check out my Homemade Face and Body Scrubs.
Watch me share exactly how to put these DIY bath salts together. I shared my how-to process on Afternoon Live, a local lifestyle show.
