These crab burgers are easy to make and are bursting with flavors of salty and sweet, topped with tomato, bacon, and cheddar cheese.

This recipe is another family recipe favorite. This one comes from my Great Aunt Dottie, my grandmother’s sister. I never had the pleasure of meeting her but according to my mom, she was wonderful and obviously a great cook.
This recipe gives me a little connection to the great aunt I never knew. In a way, she is with the family whenever we make the recipe. That’s what I love about family recipes, the connections that are created.
In my opinion, the best part of this recipe is the crab. Being in Oregon, I am spoiled when it comes to crab. We have large amounts of beautiful, flavorful Dungeness Crab. They are caught off the west coast, mostly between Washington and Oregon so it is not hard to get it fresh.
Like I said, spoiled. I have grown to love the salty, sweet flavor of the great Dungeness and rarely use any other type. Snow crab is another great option for these burgers. Save a few bucks by using half fresh crab and half canned. If you can, I suggest you splurge for the good stuff.
The crab is obviously the best part of this recipe, but the toppings come in at a close second. I’m loyal to the toppings that my mother used which are tomato, bacon, and a little cheese, melted on top. It’s always fun to mix it up though, have fun with the toppings and make it your own.
Leave the burger by itself with no toppings or try a different topping or cheese, like white cheddar.
